Ormond Beach tech firm doubles office space to accommodate an expanded workforce due to the growth of its business.

Posted by Derek Dragojevic on Feb 17, 2016 4:04:07 PM

Ormond Beach tech firm VOLO has doubled its office space to accommodate an expanded
workforce due to the growth of its business. The new space will provide enough space for upwards of
50 employees. All new positions will be high-paying technology jobs.

VOLO's software suite enables businesses to proactively address, manage and communicate with
employees during unforeseen events. According to Mr. Felipe Portocarrero, the firm’s president, "In
today's world, threats to businesses take many forms: bomb threats, active shooters, severe weather
events are all realities impacting business today." Portocarrero adds, "Our business is growing so
quickly because our technology is no longer perceived as a luxury. To operate in today's world,
businesses must be prepared or face the consequences." Although VOLO serves clients globally,
VOLO's communications software has been used recently to help contain an active shooter right here
in Daytona Beach. (See Halifax press release.)

In addition to expanding its Ormond Beach workforce, VOLO is also increasing its footprint on the
West Coast by opening a second headquarters in Las Vegas. Portocarrero explains: "Having a second
headquarters in Las Vegas makes sense. We can expand our normal operating hours and better service
our clients on the West Coast. Additionally, we will have access to prime development talent
located nearby in California.”

Founded in 2007 starting with only 2 employees, VOLO is now the premier provider of SaaS Solutions
for the Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery community. VOLO
delivers high availability in-bound and out-bound communications, event monitoring, automated
alerting, and storage applications via a proprietary cutting-edge platform. VOLO's reach extends
globally, working with clients from the Fortune 100 list and the United States Armed Forces to
businesses and healthcare facilities in almost every U.S. city.

Halifax Hospital Uses VOLO During Shooting

Posted by Derek Dragojevic on Jan 24, 2014 12:44:00 PM

Ormond Beach, FL - January 24, 2014. Kevin Noel, Director of Safety and Security at Halifax Hospital, used the VOLO Recovery® cloud-based communication system to contact hospital executives and employees after a dangerous shooting occurred at the hospital on Monday, January 6th, 2014. According to witnesses, Jonathan Rodriguez, a 20-year-old man, threatened patients and nurses with a gun before killing himself. Fortunately, the event ended without serious injury to Halifax employees or patients.

Cloud-based communication systems like VOLO are becoming increasingly popular among businesses such as hospitals, banks and retailers. According to Mr. Noel, "With the increase in severe weather and violent threats that exist today, I decided it was time to stop depending on the antiquated call-tree method of communicating to my staff. Technology today is so powerful and inexpensive; there is no reason to put off acquiring a mass communications system". Kevin goes on to state, "I was able to use our notification system to provide real-time updates to our executive team as the situation unfolded. We have since expanded the user base to all employees as this is a great way to inform them of situations on campus that may impact how they get to work or what's going on before they get here."
